The "Connect Project", A Joint Project Between ZOZO and FREAK'S STORE, Has Started

On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, our company launched the sustainability project "connect project" together with Daytona International Co., Ltd., which operates the select shop "FREAK'S STORE".

The aim of this project is to communicate the sustainability of fashion in a fun way to local communities and the next generation, and to continue taking action. The project has been launched based on a shared awareness of the environmental and social issues facing the fashion industry, as well as a desire to solve various local issues while "connecting" with stakeholders.

At "The Camp" FREAK'S STORE, the first store of "FREAK'S STORE", we held a workshop where participants could experience cotton ginning using organic cotton, and also "Yuki Tsumugi", a traditional textile from Ibaraki Prefecture that is an intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO. On the day, many people joined the workshop, including families living nearby, and there were around 80 participants in total. Through this workshop, we were able to provide an opportunity for people to learn again that clothes are made from threads spun from the blessings of nature.

Event Date
October 14 (Mon/public holiday), 2024

Location
"The Camp" FREAK'S STORE 2F, ‘"&FREAK.’" (2268 Nakata, Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture)

At the Mizuho Festival, the school festival of Chiba University of Commerce, we held a workshop to make eco-bags using items that could not be resold on ZOZOUSED and discarded samples from FREAK'S STORE. As the bags could be made using only scissors, without the need for needles or thread, a total of 170 people, including small children, took part. Participants commented that they would like to try upcycling at home and that they had enjoyed the experience and would like to do it again.  Through upcycling items that would otherwise have been thrown away, they were able to experience the joy of creating new value.

Event Dates
November 3 (Sun) and 4 (Mon, public holiday), 2024

Location
Chiba University of Commerce, Ichikawa Campus
